After 6 months I question how good it is.

I have been studying Spanish with Rosetta Totale 5 for 6 months. I have not done the work 7 days a week but spend some time at least 5 days. I have become extremely bored with it but since we are going back to Ecuador in Nov I am determined to “keep after it”. I am not very skilled at language and at 69 it is even harder; however I am a college graduate and have been using pidgin Spanish for many years. The course is set up so you get nothing in English, so if the word is new, you either figure it out or as I do, use a translator, The tenses without explanation drive you crazy and for one that cannot spell, trying to spell in Spanish with the writing exercises is a waste of time and I now skip that.

I have used 3 or 4 other courses and where this may be the best-----you will not learn to speak Spanish with it--------unless you are gifted in language or have the discipline to study 2 hard hours each day. It is also way over priced and now is constantly doing TV adds which says to me they are over selling the product.

I Understand!

Believe me, I understand your frustration with Rosetta Stone. Everyone acts like it's the greatest thing since Swiss cheese. I think it is extremely overrated and is really not very good. I have tried it with Arabic. While Arabic is so difficult that nothing makes it much easier, the most effective course I've tried by far is Just Listen 'N Learn. It's very interesting, very oriented to the real world, and in general just a joy to use. I've also used their course with advanced Spanish and it works very well.
