I worry that this is teaching way too slow.

Well I am surrounded by spanish. I live in San Antonio, Texas. I am partly hispanic, and I am dating someone from central America. It is apart of my life...I figure it is a must know. Obviously, since I live around it, I've had a small understanding of most words and phrases. Well I think I have only learned like 5 new words and I was getting worried that it is taking too long. I never imagined that two months would pass and all I could say is "the man jumpes off the ladder." (a true story from another review).
I recieved this program as a high school graduation gift. I'm young and have lots of time to learn it...but it would also be nice to have conversations with people around me WHILE learning. I feel limited to the very basic vocab it repeats and repeats. And even when I try to talk with my boyfriend he gets confused because they teach different ways of saying thinks such as instead of "The man wears the shirt" RS tought me "The man carries the shirt". It gets the point across but I dont see the point in it.
ugh...tell me this is worth it!!!!!!!!!
