Language Resources - Media
Newspapers, Internet Radio, Video

Here are some additional sites that have media resources for language learning. Newspapers and magazines in your target language abound on the internet. Radio stations are also abundant, but these resources generally aren't geared toward people learning the language. Video is a slightly different medium, however. Although you may be able to find news or other kinds of video in your target language, there are a few sites that provide video (as well as audio) specifically for people learning the language. This is a growing resource on the internet for language learners.

The LangMedia Collection Has an extensive array of videos in a variety of languages just for language learners. Includes transcripts and translations.

TVstreet.com Links to TV, radio and newspapers in a variety of languages around the world.

Yabla.com This is a very interesting site that has an online video player that can be used for language learning. They have examples for use in Spanish and French, and you can also see the player in use at Lomastv.com with lots of video and music videos in Spanish. This site has some pay features but you can check it out for free.

BBC The BBC has lots of resources for learners of a number of different languages, including tutorials, news, audiomagazines, audio and video.

"Parents should conduct their arguments in quiet, respectful tones, but in a foreign language. You'd be surprised what an inducement that is to the education of children"

- Judith Martin
