Learn Hungarian! Spoken in and around Hungary and in pockets in cities of Europe and the US, this unusual and challenging language has been of interest to linguists for centuries.

It is from a completely different language tree than the other languages of Europe (it is only distantly related to Finnish), and so has little in common with them and can sound very foreign to a native speaker of English. It is often regarded as a very difficult language to learn, but is equally considered a rich and rewarding language for those who wish to learn it!

Although there have been few resources to learn Hungarian, the situation has been improving.

FSI is one of the most comprehensive learning methods available. You can download FSI Hungarian for free at this site. There are 24 units in two volumes and an extensive graded reader. The material is a little old, but for the price, you won't find a better way to learn Hungarian!
