Learn Spanish by buiding a house!

by Lesley from Decolish
(Australia)

I had only done a year of night classes when I went to live in Spain. I can certainly recommend moving to a Spanish speaking country, if only for a while to speed up the process of learning the language. But I had a real baptism of fire. We decided to build a house in a gorgeous village outside Barcelona. We ended up with an architect and a builder who didn't speak English! I soon became an expert on vocabulary for bricks, tiles, paint colours, everything except small talk about the weather!

It was a wonderful experience and I lived there for 8 years, learning all the time. I loved the language, the people and the country.

Now I'm living in Australia, I miss everything about Spain and the language a lot, but life moves on and Australia also has a lot to offer.
